How to Build An Amazing Work Culture: Codrin Arsene interview with Authority Magazine
In a recent interview with the Authority Magazine, Codrin Arsene, CEO at Digital Authority Partners, talks about how our company actively created and fostered a fantastic work culture which led to one of the best retention rates in the country.
But first, the facts.
Digital Authority Partners was founded by Codrin Arsene and Michael Reddy in 2015.
Over the last four years, the company has grown to 54 full time employees and 30 additional contractors all over the world, across 5 time zones. Our current annual turnover is less than 4%. Overall the last four years, the net turnover rate has been 3.25% across both employees and contractors.
Our company has also recently received the Timmy Award for the Most Diverse Company in Technology. In previous years, this award went to technology juggernauts like Capital One, Facebook or Linkedin.
Our consulting group has also assisted Omron Healthcare in creating a top notch digital experience for their FDA-approved smartwatch. The multi touch digital experience we’ve worked on with Omron has been awarded the Time Best Invention of the Year in 2019.
Both recent public recognitions and awards are fueled by the work culture fostered by Codrin Arsene, our CEO, who spoke to Digital Authority Magazine about his philosophy on how to attract and retain talent.
As Codrin says in this recent interview: “Hire great people and then get out of their way.” He continues by stating that: “My employees know they actually own any project they work on and that they are 100% accountable for the results. I personally think this is how the world should be run. Empower people, then only step in when they need you or when it’s absolutely necessary.”
In corporate America, as Arsene mentions, this is always easier said than done.
Codrin talks in the interview about how he was finally able to apply his philosophy after he founded his own company, but not when he was managing the in-store mobile app division at Sears Holding Corporation or the Global Digital Customer experience at Ricoh.
Corporate America often creates a culture predicated on institutional silos.
Each employee is a cog in the machine.
Employees have very little true power over their workload because instructions and directives are often handed down from the executive team with little context or wiggle room. This eventually leads to a toxic culture, or at least a culture based on “passing the can down the road.”
If employees do not feel empowered and do not actually own their workstream, they will constantly rely on their bosses for any decision-making process.
Similarly, when employees see something that is not working as expected, they will rarely bother to raise their hands and try to change how things are done.
To avoid all this wasted productivity and unhealthy work culture at Digital Authority Partners, every employee is actually empowered to make their own decisions, to experiment with new ideas and are allowed to “test and fail.”
Another topic that Codrin explores at length in this interview is the role of emerging technologies like voice and artificial intelligence in the healthcare space.
Digital Authority Partners has had the opportunity to work with companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Athenahealth and Omron on a variety of forward looking digital initiatives tied to helping patients interact better with doctors and physicians or consumers making decisions about their health by leveraging different digital content assets (blogs, infographics, videos and more).
As Digital Authority Partners works on both ends of the spectrum - building healthcare digital experiences and helping companies market them - we are best positioned to track the success of a healthcare initiative from inception to launch and growth.
As such, in this interview, Codrin Arsene talks at length about the future of digital healthcare innovations - both from the perspective of how healthcare companies should think about building solutions and then market them.
In particular, he discusses how voice technology will play an increasingly important role in digital healthcare because of its ease of use and UI-less interface.
He also talks about how healthcare companies can effectively communicate better with their ideal target audience, meet consumers where they are and effectively bridge the gap between the delivery of health services and proper communication with the patient.
